It is fantastic to report that pupils in our local primaries are once again choosing Broadoak. If any parents have not had confirmation of a place please contact us. Mrs Worswick, who leads transition, will soon be writing to all Year 6 parents with details of our annual summer school. All of Year 6 are invited for a week of interactive learning. This is, of course, in addition to our Transition week in July where all of Year 6 will experience a full week with our current pupils.
If any parents have still not selected a place please contact us as soon as possible. We would be delighted to arrange a personal tour with then Headteacher.

First Aid Training
Having First Aid training on your CV as a school leaver is a great asset and it’s also a really valuable life skill. In Year 11 CoPE this week, we invited trainers from St John’s Ambulance to provide official training on the Primary Survey, Recovery Position and CPR. We await the certificates to put in our Records of Achievement

Broadoak had the biggest squad out of all the schools in Trafford for the Year 7 and Year 8 North Trafford Indoor Athletics competition. Outstanding performers on the day went to Brooke Wetherill (Year 8), Henry Fong (Year 8), Nana Robinson (Year 7) and Thomas Haynes (Year 7). Their sportsmanship and teamwork when cheering for each other was brilliant to watch and hear. They were the loudest and most encouraging out of all the schools there. A massive congratulations to all who competed – you were a credit to the school and to yourselves. Well done!
Broadoak held the North Trafford Girls Basketball Tournament last Thursday and after weeks of gruelling training sessions led by Nathan Gardiner and Cain Rourke all their hard work paid off. The girls just missed out on making it to the finals coming third, however this should not dishearten the girls as they were unreal! Outstanding performer goes to the feistiest girl on the court, Charlotte Capper, as her determination to get back every ball was fabulous!
United Kingdom Mathematics Trust
On Monday 13th March, four of our best KS3 pupils represented Broadoak at the UKMT (United Kingdom Mathematics Trust) Regional Finals held at Manchester Grammar School. The team consisted of Sam Fletcher, Niamh Pickens, Danielle Higgins and Billy Edwards. Undaunted by the intimidating reputation of many of the schools taking part, our heroic quartet worked their way through four tough 45-minute rounds of punishing academic challenges, culminating in a high speed relay of mathematical mayhem. This involved over 100 of the brightest young mathematicians in the North West rushing crazily around the Great Hall in an effort to score more points than anyone else. By 3pm the winning teams had been identified and it was no shame for us to have been beaten by Manchester Grammar School (1st place), Manchester High School for Girls (2nd place) and Altrincham Grammar School for Boys (3rd place). Our team came 15th place out of 28 competing schools, please congratulate our fantastic team when you next see them. Well done all!
